WHY SAFE PUBLIC PLAYGROUNDS?

Lack of safe playgrounds has left our children glued to the television and other electronics all day. This is hindering their communication skills, immune system, and self-esteem. The available Parks are all for revenue and will cost you an arm & leg, Kshs. 600 to Kshs. 1,000 ($6-$10) per hr, per child for playground services. NOT FESIBLE at all for regular mwananchi (citizen) who earn about $10 per day.

Outdoor play is so essentially that the united nations high commission for human rights recognises it as a right of every child. This is a desparate call from parents and caregivers! Let’s create a space where kids can play freely without the worries of speedy bodabodas (motocycles) and automobile.

Children need a playground where they feel safe with age appropriate activities and equipments. This will enhance creativity, exploration, and learning. In return, we can expect a more active generation that’s well developed in communication skills, collaboration and negotiation skills while they get physically, mentally, and emotionally fit!

  1. Where can we create this playground in your area?
  2. Do we have funds for recreational purposes and how do we access them?

Our Approach

Our Actions

  • As an organization we ask opinions from children on what types of spaces they actually need
  • We listen carefully to the concerns and fears of parents, and create solutions to mitigate risk and address those concerns
  • We take into consideration the play and recreation needs and access of the most vulnerable children especially those with disabilities
